In the Sunday Times there was a good spread of her (sorry for the pun) on the IN GEAR supplement. She was driving a Ferrrai and making a lot of fun of Clarkson even saying he could eat her arse!!!!????

After the hardship and pains of the arm operation a few weeks back, this is surely a welcome moment JR! Good to see old form coming back.

Marty must have some other love interest as he has been very quite about his beloved FB. The picture of her in the Sunday Times would look good on any Marty wall..

Reviving an old thread for the sake of namedropping - and to incite jealousy among any Fiona-fanciers:

I've just spent the latter part of the afternoon filming with Fiona Bruce. The Antiques Roadshow is in the Island, and they've been filming some establishing shots today and picking up some culture. I got asked to provide some of the culture...

The set-up of the shot was Fiona walking elegantly down a quaint cobbled lane when she happens across a couple of yokels a-ringing of their bachîn (in the street for some unfathomable reason), and one of the yokels (i.e. me) bobs up and welcomes Fiona and the Antiques Roadshow to Jersey (in Jèrriais). And then there's some shots of bachîn ringing (me and my accomplice).

Of course, such is the artifice of television, that the quaint cobbled lane was in fact the high street, and filming was taking place during evening rush-hour - so every thirty seconds or so a 4x4 would come lumbering down and the presenter, camera, sound, chap holding the shiny reflector thing, would all have to clear out the way and then reset the shot.

Anyway, Fiona and the production crew were quite impressed by my bachîn (they hadn't really known what to expect), and Fiona asked to have a go on my bachîn and soon got it trembling and groaning (which is quite good for a beginner). She actually has an advantage, being so tall, as my bachîn is big and it takes a bit of a reach to get it going.

Anyway, that's my Fiona Bruce-related excitement for today.

Anyone unacquainted with the ancient art of bachîn ringing (that'll be everyone, then) can find out more here:

I think the series currently filming will be broadcast Winter/Spring 2009/2010, but I don't have a television (as I keep explaining to the crooks at TV Licensing) so I'm not up on the schedules. I'm with Noel Coward in that television is for appearing on, not watching.

In the above pic, I'm on the right - but I'm slightly greyer these days.

Of course, just because I've filmed something, doesn't mean it'll make the final edit. If the producers have any sense, they'll concentrate on lovely sunlit fields of beautiful cows.

Oh dear Geraint. I am sure we will see at least one glimpse of you. We must be vigilant re TV programming to make sure that we are all there glued to the set On The Night (and we will have to ignore the Jersey cows, because they certainly will not be in the frame(s) which include you!)

Double entendre? Moi?

Anyway, for a further taste of bachîn ringing, there are a couple of vids in which I feature (the sound isn't too clear, so you don't really catch the ringing tone):

So all you have to imagine is Fiona stroking away instead of me :D

She's going to be in our neck of the woods next month as the AR is being filmed at Bletchley Park - on a weekend when my other half normally volunteers there.

Sadly, we are both otherwise engaged that afternoon as it's my mum's 80th birthday party :-(
