Scottish and Northern Irish Bank notes

Post by Katharine »

I am seeing far more Scottish and Northern Irish bank notes than in previous years. I am trying to decide whether more people are holidaying in North Wales or is it that those who are visiting have been to their local cash machines and taken all the spending money out before they leave home, thus they are spending their own notes throughout their holidays and not just at the start.

I have been very amused by one of the Northern Irish Banks, I had 2 £20 notes on my desk that looked almost identical on the front. The only difference was the date of the signature. On the earlier one, the back showed the Victorian buildings of the University. The newer one was obviously printed at the time when they had had enough of education, and wanted to show something they were proud of - it was Old Bush Mills Distillery!

For any newcomers - I run the cash office on the Ffestiniog Railway so see a lot of money at this time of year!

I had better, quickly, point out that we are Irish EVANS --- (Drifted over in a coracle ?) so I am not going to make any rude comments about the Welsh, or their Rugby ! (Grand Slam ?)

JR --- of course ---- supports a strange game called "Soccer" !

Watch out for "Incoming " ! :axe:

These notes obviously come from visitors, who bring their "funny money" with them!

Seriously though, all the signs are for a good summer season here. Walking down the High Street is now a problem as there are so many people around. It hasn't been beach weather for some weeks, so they have to find something to do.
