New coins

Post by Katharine »

I have just been given a new penny with its strange design. I didn't think it was British! I gather that if you collect all the coins and arrange them correctly you can form the Royal Arms.

My main complaint would be that there is no numeral 1 on this coin, I wonder whether they are putting the numerals on the higher denominations?

My son had the 50p one, I had seen it on the Beeb. I have just checked the Royal Mint website and there is no sign of it. Image

I have heard of someone having their 5p rejected as the shopkeeper would not believe it was 'one of ours'!
