A friendship blessing for your birthday Kerren (from John O'Donohue's book Anam Cara - in case you don't know, it means 'soul friend')
May you be blessed with good friends.
May you learn to be a good friend to your self.
May you be able to journey to that place in your soul where there is great love, warmth, feeling and forgiveness.
May this change you.
May it transfigure that which is negative, distant or cold in you.
May you be brought into the real passion, kinship and affinity of belonging.
May you treasure your friends.
May you be good to them and may you be there for them; may they bring you all the blessings, challenges, truth and light that you need for your journey.
May you never be isolated; but may you always be in the gentle nest of belonging with your anam cara.
On reflection, most of this is already true of you, anyway!
Blimey. What it is to have such good friends! THANK YOU, folks (especially Frances ... no I hadn't seen that before!).
Well, as birthdays go, (even for an OAP), it has to be said that this one has been pretty dire (though not as bad as Amy's). It started with an early visit to the Dentist, then three Boards of Examiners at our Bognor campus, then a quick dash to Chichester to catch up with this and that before a HUGE Board of Examiners at our Chichester campus (where I am based). I fell back into my office, shell shocked, at around 4.00 p.m. and then it took nearly three hours to catch up with immediate day-to-day issues before I eventually locked the door and came home. Think the weekend might be a bit more celebratory, though I have to say that I am grateful to those colleagues at work who gave me alcohol for a birthday present! Guess what I am doing right now!!
Thank you again, everyone.......
Thanks Liz (and all.....) and congratulations on Laura's engagement!
The birthday itself was pretty busy workwise (as I have indicated elsewhere on this thread) but I have been out for lunch two days running this weekend in celebration. And now I am panicking about not being properly prepared for a meeting 9-4 tomorrow (Monday).
S'great at the top!
Kerren
