We had 4 boys who had to serve food to 48; two courses in the fastest possible time; we only had about 20 minutes for a meal. Flat plates (fully laden) were usually 6 at a time and woe betide anyone who spilt food on someone as they put a plate down. AFAIR deep plates were 4 or 5 at a time.Jude wrote:I was going to say - what was a nippy - We carried 3 plates, and wore pinnies - obviously it was either deemed you boys should be punished for making your bluecoats dirty, or that we had to get used to wearing an apron! The only time I wear an apron these days is when I am potting with clay on the wheel!
No aprons available.
Having more money doesn't make you happier. I have 50 million dollars
but I'm just as happy as when I had 48 million.

how awful - what pressure that poor boy was under - and only 20mins for a meal - I'm surprised you are all still alive!sejintenej wrote:We had 4 boys who had to serve food to 48; two courses in the fastest possible time; we only had about 20 minutes for a meal.
