Feel sorry for you Mid A....and for Alan Pardew too....I'm a West Ham fan you see, we've almost completed our escape this season, but I don't think Pardew should've been sacked (from West Ham I mean), he's a brilliant manager.

At least he knows how to get promoted again

Oh, as a fan of one of those clubs who did go down, what do you think of West Ham's lack of points deduction?

In answer to Mr Plum the league table doesn't lie after 37 or 38 games so I guess they do deserve to go down.

In answer to Wuppertal I think it is wrong in principle that West Ham were not deducted points given the precedents that exist for other teams to be punished for transgressions with points deductions.

The Premier league statement acknowledged that fact saying something along the lines of ... normally points would be deductible for this type of offence but to deduct them now would condemn West Ham to certain relegation which isn't fair on the fans!

If fairness to fans is the main criterion why have Leeds been deducted 10 points and thus relegated because of the actions of Mr Bates? Why were AFC Wimbledon deducted 18 points (later reduced to 3 after intervention from Tony Blair no less!) for fielding an ineligible player? I can also quote the example of Bury being thrown out of the FA Cup earlier this season after winning a tie against Chester with an ineligible player. West Ham (yes them again  ) did the same thing a few years back in the Carling Cup and they were allowed to replay the match!

In summary it is the inconsistencies in treatment I have illustrated that annoy me the most about this affair. As far as we (Charlton) are concerned we are where we deserve to be so I've no complaints on that score. Wigan might have a case though given the impact that ineligible player has had in the Hamsters' recent good run including defeating them 3-0!

What do you lot think of Alan Curbishley now?

Ignoring the Tevez thing for a moment he does seem to have done a tremendous job rejuvenating a team which seemed dispirited, disorganised and in disarray for whatever reason. I was sorry to see him go although perhaps he was getting a little stale after 15 years and needed a rest and new challenge. He is a club legend though and I feel privileged to have met him a few times.

That said Pardew has done brilliantly for us given where we were and I think our future is as bright as it can be with him at the helm.

Sorry about the length of this!

It'll only get worse from here, MidA15. I'm a Forest fan - I should know.

I saw this on the BBC football website:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/thereporters ... ham_d.html

It shows that one reason for them not being deducted points was that it may have had an effect on the Premiership title itself...imagine that there was still everything to play for on the last day of the season between Manchester United and Chelsea...if West Ham had had that points deduction that seems warranted, and therefore been relegated too, they would have nothing to play for on the last day of the season...away to Manchester United. The decisionmakers were considering this too...because this would have possibly given Manchester United a very easy victory against a team already relegated and in dismay. Imagine José Mourinho's opinion on that! That's what this article was saying about it anyway. So it wouldn't only have affected the relegation places, but also the championship too (if indeed it had still be close).

My eyes rarely stray below the first five places in the Premiership.

However, I do feels sorry for Charlton.

I worked for a while in S.E.7, and we often used 'The Valley' pub at lunch-times, which then was frequented by players and staff from the club.

I am apparently 'according to bf' very happy that we beat charlton as we are now 6th with a game in hand!

On another note, Leicester Tigers are on course for the treble, preimiership final this weekend and Heineken cup the following-which im still trying to get tickets for!

I know what you mean Amy, i can only find tickets starting off at £94 and going upto £225 for the final!!!

I kept putting off buying them and now truly angry that they're so expensive
If it takes 87 muscles to frown, if i frown throughout the day, can that count towards my daily work out?

Your bf may be interested in the fact that my Spurs supporting nephew grabbed Defoe's shirt when he threw it into the Jimmy Seed stand where the Spurs fans sat after the match on Monday night.

He's threatened to frame it and hang it on his wall so I can see it every time I visit. Defoe scored the second goal and was a trainee with Charlton some years back. He left somewhat acrimoniously having been poached by that fine upstanding club West Ham United yes them again!

Leicester Tigers seem to be going from strength to strength. I can see them ground sharing the Walkers Stadium with the football club in time as I reckon they will outgrow Welford Road.

Methinks they protest too much!

Applying that logic why was special dispensation was given to transfer Mascherado (?spelling) outside of the transfer window to Liverpool? I'm pretty sure that also could have affected things too for other teams since he has undoubtedly improved the Liverpool team since his arrival there.

Actually it was thrown up about 2 1/2 years ago but was dismissed as Leicester City didnt want to become second team at the stadium as the Tigers get a much larger crowd than city about 3 times size!

They are currently trying to extend welford road!

As for tickets, 3 went today for under face value on ebay! Im hoping to get two through work-i have everything crossed
